Apple Pie

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups thinly sliced apples (peeled and cored) I used green apples
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 double crust pie dough (homemade or store-bought)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix until the apples are coated evenly.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough from the edges.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust and dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture. Trim the edges and crimp them to seal the pie.
  6. Cut a few small slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.
  7. Bake the pie for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  8. Allow the pie to cool completely before serving.
