Ingredients:
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples (peeled and cored) I used green apples
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 double crust pie dough (homemade or store-bought)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix until the apples are coated evenly.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Trim any excess dough from the edges.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust and dot the top with small pieces of butter.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture. Trim the edges and crimp them to seal the pie.
- Cut a few small slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.
- Bake the pie for 45-55 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Allow the pie to cool completely before serving.
